For years, Giles Sexton has been on a quest for a one-off centrepin reel, custom made to fit his own specific requirements but had no luck. This quest was fulfilled when he stumbled across Piscario at the launch of their reels at the Romsey Tackle fair whilst he was selling some amazing vintage tackle from his private collection. He was thoroughly impressed with the design, build quality and workmanship of the pins. After a brief discussion he was invited to visit the office to have a chat about his requirements, he appeared to be shocked at how welcoming we were whilst taking on board all the custom features he desired, having been snubbed by various other reel manufacturers over the years. Giles continued to comment ‘how refreshing it was for him to visit a company that really does show an interest in people who have a passion.’

After a tour of our factory and an in depth chat with Peter and Leigh to discuss his requirements, we started by allowing Giles to work with a couple of our design engineers to allow him to create his perfect tailor made Elemental pin reel. Some of his requirements consisted of: A remodelling of the spool, a custom made ratchet, custom engraving to emphasise his special one-off reel, personalised fonts and customised handles. His ideas and wishes were to the point, he knew exactly what he wanted and this really will be one of a kind. The fact that we were capable of doing all of this really impressed Giles as he was excited to finally find a company with the facilities to carry out these customisation’s. Once the requirements had been confirmed, we began 3D printing the model in plastic to ensure that he was satisfied with the look.

Giles’ attention to detail is likely to have come from his own line of work, creating and developing handmade, customised and bespoked lures in his workshop at his home in SW France.

One of the most popular lures he has created has proven itself over the years as one of the very best for Golden Mahseer, which was commissioned by the current world record holder for the largest Golden Mahseer caught on rod and line.
